Hey there! As you may have noticed my name is Tami Lowell. I'm a graduate of NC State University with a BS in Materials Science and Engineering. In other words, I studied how to make, process, and otherwise engineer lots of different materials, such as polymers (i.e. plastics), metals (yuck), ceramics, and composites there of.  Nowadays, I use my prestegious degree to work with other materials -- runny noses, dirty diapers, and soccer balls.  My current job title is 'Mommy', but I expect a promotion soon to 'Mom'.

One hobby I picked up during college was rock hounding. Don't ask when I'll get my collection on line, it may be a while. It seems that these days, my rock hounding consists of carrying the odd stones that my children pick up in their adventures.

Some of my other hobbies include flying, quilting and fabric crafts, backpacking/hiking, canoeing, sailing, gardening, gourmet cooking, and competing with my brothers-in law for the neatest gear collection, because as any Lowell knows, "you can never have enough cool gear!"
